What data I collect
Contact form and email enquiries
When you use the contact form or email me, I receive the information you provide: your name, email address, phone number (if given), and the content of your message. I use this information solely to respond to your enquiry, prepare a quote, and deliver the service you request.
WhatsApp enquiries
When you contact me via WhatsApp, I receive your phone number, name (as set in your profile), and the messages and any documents you send. WhatsApp is operated by Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. Your messages are end-to-end encrypted by WhatsApp. I use the information you send only to respond to your enquiry and provide my services.
Website analytics
This website uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), provided by Google Ireland Ltd, to understand how visitors use the site. GA4 collects anonymised data such as pages visited, time on site, approximate geographic region, and device type. It does not collect your name, email, or other personally identifiable information. IP addresses are anonymised by default in GA4.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Legal basis for processing
I process your personal data on the following legal bases under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Consent – when you submit the contact form or send me a message, you consent to me using your data to respond.
- Legitimate interest – to respond to enquiries, provide quotes, deliver translation and interpretation services, and maintain records for legal and accounting obligations.
- Legal obligation – where I am required to retain records for tax, accounting, or regulatory purposes under Portuguese law.
How I use your data
I use your personal data to:
- Respond to your enquiry and provide a quote
- Deliver translation or interpretation services
- Communicate with you about your booking or order
- Issue invoices and maintain business records
- Improve the website based on anonymised analytics
I do not use your data for marketing purposes, and I will never sell or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing.
Third parties
Your data may be processed by the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Analytics (GA4) – anonymised website usage data. Google Privacy Policy.
- WhatsApp (Meta) – if you contact me via WhatsApp. WhatsApp Privacy Policy.
I do not share your personal data with any other third parties except where strictly necessary to deliver the service you requested (for example, a Portuguese lawyer who certifies a translated document will receive the document but not your contact details unless required for the certification).
Data retention
I retain your enquiry data and service records for the duration of our service relationship and for a reasonable period afterwards to handle any follow-up questions or issues. Business and accounting records are retained for the minimum period required by Portuguese law (currently up to 10 years for tax-related records under Portuguese tax legislation).
Anonymised analytics data is retained by Google according to their standard retention settings.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
- Right of access – you can ask me what personal data I hold about you.
- Right to rectification – you can ask me to correct inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure – you can ask me to delete your data, subject to any legal retention obligations.
- Right to restriction – you can ask me to limit how I use your data.
- Right to data portability – you can request a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object – you can object to the processing of your data based on legitimate interest.
To exercise any of these rights, contact me at eduardanejaimc@gmail.com or via WhatsApp. I will respond within 30 days.
