How to Register a Birth in Portugal as a Foreigner

When your baby is born in Portugal, you need to register the birth at the Conservatoria do Registo Civil, usually within 20 days. If one or both parents are foreign nationals, there are extra steps: you may need translated birth certificates, marriage certificates, and an interpreter if you don’t speak Portuguese.
